Monday 24th June 2019 – ‘Looking and Seeing’ with Professor Brian Falconbridge

Professor Brian Falconbridge PPRBS, artist and academic, joins us to discuss members’ photographs and share his thoughts on ways of considering the ideas and images presented by our members.

A Norfolk man, brought up in Fakenham and now living in King’s Lynn, Prof. Falconbridge was formerly Head of Visual Arts at Goldsmiths’ College, University of London, and is a Past President of the Royal British Society of Sculptors (now the RSS). He became Dean of The Sir John Cass Faculty of Art, Media & Design at London Metropolitan University, before retiring from the position at the end of  2010 to resume full-time studio practice. His work, sculpture in bronze and wood often constructivist in approach, drawing on themes of order and scale in still life, has been exhibited all over the world and is in many public and private collections. He continues to advise on commissions and awards for public sculpture while also maintaining contact with academic and creative communities through examining and mentoring.

Tonight, Prof. Falconbridge would like to see your photographs – please bring one print, or one PDI on a memory stick for us to project, perhaps of an image you are particularly fond of – to discuss what you and he can consider about your work.

This is not in any way a competition, there is no judging, but simply a way that Prof. Falconbridge’s academic and artistic mind may help us to look differently, and advance the ways we see images and photograph them.
